By way of "the kernel of modern times economy", the scale and efficiency of finance system has become a key factor for impelling or limiting the economic development of a state. But as the foundation and principal part of the finance system of a state, the competitive capacity of banking has direct influence to competitive position of the syntheses national power with centre of economy for a state. More recently, with the banking reforming in company, the finance system of our state has got quite great development. However, considering the finance system of our state was born out of long-term planned economy, and the economic development is getting off to the primary phase of market economy, the development of our commercial bank is also relative lagging, and has big gap with world topping commercial bank in scale, structure and benefit in particular. This gap will gradually become sharp pounding to our commercial banks in business in company with the limitation abolishing in customer, organization and scope, especially to the smaller joint-stock commercial bank. Based on promoting competitive power of the joint-stock commercial banks and answering competition of foreign banks, this paper analyses the ecological environment of finance factor that has great impact on the competitive power of commercial banks but neglected by majority scholar. And unites the self ability factor (actual competitive capacity and potential competitive ability) which reflects the self competitive power of commercial banks to construct appraise system. Then selects banks in relative maturity and perfect states such as Taiwan and Hong Kong to precede empirical research with our joint-stock commercial banks, and makes actually evaluation on the competitive ability of our joint-stock commercial banks, revealing the predominance and recessive of our joint-stock commercial banks as compared with banks in developed places. At last, this paper probes the avenues of promoting competitive ability of our joint-stock commercial banks on the foundation of analyzing the market competition degree of our nations banking.
